Tellico Plains

Tellico Plains is the perfect example of rugged beauty and adventure meeting SmallTown USA. It's the entrance to the Cherohala Skyway, a 50 mile long scenic highway rated the #1 scenic drive in the Southeast by National Geographic. The town has a history dating back thousands of years, and is noted for the role it played in the Civil War, as well as being known as the summer playground for the Cherokee Indian Nation. In fact, the name Tellico comes from the Cherokee word Telliquah, which means "great meeting place," as Tellico was the site of the Cherokee Nation's version of the summer Olympics.

Bald River Falls, Indian Boundary State Park and the Tellico River each highlight the spectacular East Tennessee scenery. With an abundance of outdoor activities, an avid arts and music community, and spectacular mountain landscape, there's something for everyone here. Homes and land, many of which have wonderful mountain views, are available and often affordable compared to other mountainous areas across the country.
